Facebook Tips – Are You Making Any of These 3 Deadly Social Marketing Mistakes on Facebook?

Facebook Marketing18 Facebook Tips Are You Making Any of These 3 Deadly Social Marketing Mistakes on Facebook?
Facebook is a great Social Marketing tool to use to build your connections and your brand. At the same time, I see so many beginners and even veterans making the same mistakes that sabotage their marketing on Facebook.

Let’s take a closer look at the top 3 biggest mistakes and what to do instead.

Top 3 Facebook Mistakes

1. Market all the time – Why do people do this? In a social setting, would you walk in carrying a giant billboard? Can you imagine what the reaction would be?

Yet it happens all the time. Someone sets up a new Facebook account and begins to flash their marketing messages all over the place. This is the quickest way to get ignored.

What to do instead - Follow the 80/20 rule of Social Marketing – 80% conversation & relationship building and 20% marketing. Share the parts of your life you are willing to share. Respond to what other people share. Help out when you can by answering questions and referring to any resources you know about that could help. Sometimes these can be your resources. Now you are able to market while being social. Which is the point.

2. No Regular Updates – Another big mistake I see is failure to be involved and update regularly. It only takes a few moments to update your status. And by update your status I do not mean your latest adventures in Mafia Wars or what you have added to your Aquarium or Farmville. This does not help your marketing and just makes you look like someone with too much time on their hands.

What to do instead - Follow my LIFE model of Social Marketing. You can update with Links, Information, Fun, and Events. Links can be information you have found or information about you. Information can be tips and tools about your niche. Fun can be sharing your life with your followers, to the extent with which you are comfortable. Events can be events you are attending or events you are holding.

3. No Fan Page – Lots of people try to have both their friendship world and their marketing world on the same page. I admit I made this mistake when I first started out. It gets confusing for your followers and for you. At the time of this writing, I’m in the process of moving my business followers to my Fan Pages and using my Facebook Profile for my longtime and new friends.

What to do instead - Create a Facebook Fan Page. Some of the advantages are:

1) Your updates are indexed by Google which helps you build your online visibility.

2) On your Profile Page you are limited to only 5000 followers. On your Facebook Fan Page there is no limit to the number of Fans you can have.

3) You are allowed to treat your Facebook Fan Page as a marketing tool, inviting followers/fans to sales pages and opt in pages.

Social Networking – Marketing Tool Or Friendship Killer? Part 1

Socail Media11 Social Networking Marketing Tool Or Friendship Killer? Part 1
There’s never been a time for me when I wasn’t marketing something. It all began in 1972. Did the old biodegradable soap thing in my senior year of college as a way to earn some money. Of course, I failed miserably, but I have always been taken with network marketing of one form of another ever since. Anyone who knows me realizes that this is who I’ve always been. I try to look at it from the other side: if someone was always in my face with some new, hot, can’t-miss thing, would I be okay with it. Boy, I don’t know.

Network marketing, multi-level marketing, and all those types of business models have a really bad rep. Honestly, they deserve it. They’ve totally earned the disrespect that defines them. Just the other day, a company that I actually worked for at the corporate level a couple of years ago went under. I totally understand why it all happened, and left the company when I saw the writing on the wall. It just took 2 or so more agonizing years for this “great idea” to fold. And, as you all know, most of these types of things do, sooner or later.

So, why do I persist? I wished I could say “I have absolutely no clue.” But, I totally get who I am. I’m afraid it’s in my blood. While I am no longer involved in anything having to do with multiple levels, bogus claims of earning untold mega-millions from the home while working in my underwear (or worse), I will always be a player. It’s something I’m passionate about, and it gives me hope.

That’s something I’ve always craved, and always will. I just decided to ditch companies and opportunities spouting ridiculous claims that even I know have absolutely no chance of materializing. And, having had a brief fling with amazing monetary success once, way back when, I know there’s always a chance, albeit slim, that it can happen again. Just ask my son, who told me yesterday: “You did it once…”

We all want money (okay, maybe you don’t), but how to get our piece of the action is usually an exercise in futility. The only sure-cure way is to find a brick-and-mortar job that will pay you every 2 weeks like clockwork. The main problem is, of course, that you can’t make very much income this way. However, if it’s the only way, then you just have to accept it. I have a regular job. I actually like it very much. But, probably like you, it doesn’t pay all that much. Bottom line: it still pays.

But, with the Internet Age evolving every second, you have access to opportunity and possibility. But, how to make your way through the unending lot of it is another matter. Would you even know a good thing when and if you saw it? I can’t say I would.

But, I’ve had a little luck lately because a good friend decided to start up his own version of classified advertising and offering printable business coupons that his members can create on his site. Prospective customers can print them up on the spot. It’s a pretty cool innovation. And, I know this guy’s as honest and ethical as the day is long. When he asked me to become involved, the idea grew on me. He wanted me to do what I do best: write, edit and brainstorm. And, this guy is giving most of his profits back to members who feel like promoting his (our) business. No wild claims, no levels, just straight-up really high monthly commissions.

I am in love with the idea that a tiny “David” could become wildly successful among the “Goliaths.” If the whole enterprise ends up being just more pie in my sky, well that’s okay, too. You never know what can happen these days. Catch a lucky break, a little serendipitous mention at just the right time and place, and you can go viral. Ask Sarah Boyle, Google, Facebook or Twitter.

In “Social Networking – Marketing Tool Or Friendship Killer? Part 2,” I will discuss the risks and rewards of bugging your friends and followers.

Facebook – A Surprisingly Effective Web Marketing Tool

Facebook Marketing9 Facebook A Surprisingly Effective Web Marketing Tool
Facebook is becoming one of the most important social networks on the web. The company stated that it has now chosen Microsoft over Google to give a $240 million minority stake in a deal to expand advertising services on the network. This will ideally boost revenue for Facebook and increase Microsoft’s online advertising position. The Facebook-Microsoft deal will even further expand the business, which will help online businesses to reach more people and promote themselves through new forms of media.

It was founded in 2004 as a college student network and has grown into an international network for all people. Although it began as a college network, Facebook’s fastest growth demographic is in the 35+ age range. The network has near 49 million users 59% outside the U.S. and has 250,000 new ones registering on a daily basis, making it one of the fastest growing social networks on the web and is surpassing Myspace at lightening speed.

Facebook has proven in recent times to be a viable marketing tool, providing a free and easy way to promote products and services. Facebook users can add tools such as Stumble Upon and Digg to vote and bookmark favorite sites. Posted Items allows users to post company or client blogs and links to drive traffic to your homepage. On the Events page, businesses can promote teleseminars, webinars, workshops and a variety of other events to friends and networkers.

By joining this and other social networking websites, a business can increase their viewers and potential customers all over the world. Because Facebook is an Identity Platform and a closed network, it limits many of the search engines (Yahoo, MSN, Google). Therefore, joining this social network permits a business to access new information on potential clients. This should be used to benefit online marketing since the company has stats on what the users are doing. You can also post a poll to find more about your target demographic on the adverting page on the site. Facebook also has classified ad space on the left hand side and other areas of the site for online business to promote products and services.

In this modern age, people tend to stray away from business home pages. So businesses need to find new and innovative ways to drive traffic to their sites. Social networks are one of many direct response marketing techniques that can help your business flourish.

Advertising With Viral Marketing

Viral Marketing132 Advertising With Viral Marketing
The name itself suggests a marketing that spreads all around and multiplies incessantly to achieve its aim in all kinds of conditions, helpful or hostile. Viral Marketing mainly projects on the weak points of the customers. This technology is a newer form of the old-fashioned word of mouth. The users would not bother to promote the product unless it is creative and attractive.

This type of marketing is the latest fad in online marketing. It brings about lots of advantages, and some misconceptions in web marketing. Word-of-mouth and email techniques are used here for targeting the market. This method is least expensive as it seeks attention from the public without involving significant costs for the advertiser.

Like the spreading of a virus, the individuals automatically pass the marketing messages to multitudes of others. Here, the individual disseminates the messages without marketers’ involvement. The creative messages are being resonated with targeted marketing. Therefore, if the viral object is irresistibly commenting, the receivers are innately, often subconsciously, forced to pass the message, making it a form of subliminal advertising.

Viral marketing has captured the attention of the marketers due to its vivid characteristics like credibility, low costs, and amazing results. Advertisers mainly put their money on viral marketing for good customer support as it creates a stir about the website. By placing a creative blog, for instance, people are motivated to talk about the site. A prominent tool of viral marketing is the implementation of games and contests.

There are still other ways to draw the attention of the public through interesting movie clips and images. Certain organizations also get inspired to use over these top techniques in order to garner the media. These websites will generate traffic flow much better than advertising campaigns. The basis of the viral marketing idea is for it to be outstandingly obscure or unusual.

Viral advertising is mainly done through email, instant messaging, text messaging, blogs, and social bookmarking sites like facebook, MySpace etc. Its relatively low cost and speed action make it exceptional from other renowned techniques. Nowadays magnetic advertising campaigns use viral marketing for an outstanding product launch. The viral message from the advertiser can build awareness to the public by producing creative promotions on the internet.

The messages are to be simple enough with an embedded line of code. The sudden expansion of this message leaves the marketer without much internet marketing work. The individuals’ existence on the internet is expanded with both traditional and unconventional ways. This form of advertising is used for both large corporate websites and small business, and any small business asset management software can control the operations easily.

Viral marketing software helps in a quick and easy way of promoting targeted visitors to the website. The software must be created to encourage visitors to return, and thus it should be completely free. The software must be embedded with a link and an additional pdf. On a customer’s repeat visit, a bonus or some kind of advantages must be granted.

Making use of the viral marketing is a relatively hard task. If proper software cannot be found then it is better to go with other options like e-books. Brand the e-book with a link to the website and the customer. On receiving this free e-book, the customer is sure to respond positively. With all these wonderful advantages, viral marketing has proved in all ways to be a complete success for many reputed marketers.
