Creating A Successful Viral Marketing Campaign

Viral Marketing137 Creating A Successful Viral Marketing Campaign
Have you ever tried a product and recommended it to other people? That, in a nutshell, is what a viral marketing campaign is all about.

In order to create a successful campaign, you need to create buzz around your product. You need to give it the wow factor, so much so that when people read about it they will automatically want to tell their work colleagues, their friends and their family about it.

If you have an email list already, think about how you can spread the message beyond that list by getting the recipients to do your work for you. You should ensure that you find a good strong angle to promote as your wow factor, as it’s usually something unusual, different or quirky that gets the message to other people beyond your immediate circle of influence.

Don’t underestimate the power of using forums either. Be careful here though don’t advertise your product or you’ll be kicked out. But you can generate some curiosity by adding a quirky signature line to every post you make.

All good viral marketing campaigns have real value at their center. To get people’s attention about your new product, you could write a free report giving away some information that will tempt people into going ahead and buying your product. Make the report worthwhile and valuable, and you’ll be giving people a reason to recommend it to others.

Luckily for internet marketers, the word of mouth effect is transferable to the internet, and the upsurge of sites such as YouTube has made it much easier to reach a specific audience with a viral video that gets you noticed.

The key to creating a viral campaign that works is to find an angle that pushes buttons for people. They need to feel they have stumbled across something really valuable but not so valuable they want to keep it to themselves. Consider your customers likely reactions to what you are promoting before you start your viral marketing campaign, as these will greatly influence its overall success.

Viral Marketing and Buzz Marketing Explained

Viral Marketing140 Viral Marketing and Buzz Marketing Explained
We all know what a computer virus is and how prolific it can become with just the click of a mouse. It attaches itself to anything and spreads from one computer to another in the blink of an eye. Before you know it, the virus has been transmitted to everyone you know and everyone they know – ad infinitum. This is not a good thing.

However, “Buzz” is a great thing and is the virus that makes Viral Marketing what it is today. It’s the virus of Internet and off-line marketing … it spreads to other customers and causes an epidemic of sales of your product or service.

By starting a buzz you can take your business to heights never dreamed of before. Your business can become the next topic of discussion and your products will be considered “must have” by everyone that knows about them.

Think of it like this – you need to turn your products and business into an Internet legend.

Everybody knows one or has even helped to perpetuate at least one urban or social legend. These have never been marketed, no one has spent a single dime to let the world know that you should never eat “yellow snow” or that there are alligators living in the New York City sewer system or that Big foot is happy and well in the backwoods of America, and my favourite legend as a child – the Moon is made out of Swiss Cheese – I loved Swiss Cheese!

So how is it that we all know stories like that?

Well, we may have heard some of these from our parents, maybe over a cup of coffee, or on the radio, the TV and maybe even read about them in a tabloid newspaper.

Possibly, one of your good friends or a friend of a friends friend saw something that he or she just has to tell everyone about. It might even be that cool product that your friend’s sister’s boyfriend has for sale that is a must have item for everyone.

Regardless of what it is that you have seen or heard, these types of statements, thoughts and products are the heart and soul of buzz marketing or viral marketing, depending on what you want to call it.

Maybe the question you should be asking yourself is what would it mean to you if it were your product or service that enjoyed this much enthusiasm and was known to so many people?

This is why viral marketing or buzz marketing has it’s place in today’s society. It’s why any successful business owner will put value on viral marketing and use it themselves when ever possible.

If you’ve not used viral marketing before then you should start to use it today. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a traditional brick and mortar business or a simple online based business. You need viral marketing to do the work for you so you can finally slash your advertising costs in half.

How Viral Marketing Changes The World of Advertising

Viral Marketing146 How Viral Marketing Changes The World of Advertising
Advertisers, businesses and ad agencies, are confronted with a steadily declining impact of advertising in the traditional media. Businesses on the other hand must show a return on their budget spent on advertising and the pressure is mounting.

Everyone watching TV and going through the print media is experiencing already a sensory overload with all the advertising noise out there. It is annoying and you just don’t pay attention anymore. Many Ad Agencies are aware of that dilemma and looking for ways to get the results their clients are expecting.

Meanwhile technology took a gigantic leap in the internet and Web 2.0 is all about interaction and social networks showing up everywhere. People just want to belong to a group, that’s in our genes so to speak, and they choose the group which nest fits them. Just have a look at Facebook or MySpace or LinkedIn, and of course YouTube.

At the same time, while especially the large and traditional corporations still believe it’s up to them to define their brand, a revolution takes place via those online communities. People want to participate as well with the brands they love and they deliberately talk about it and discuss I with their online friends. They are reshaping the way how brands are perceived and that is having an ever growing impact on the brands…whether they like it or not.

The key now is to tap into this potential out there and talk to your clients. Advertising is no longer the one way street it used to be until now. Those companies realizing the enormous potential of the internet by actively engaging their potential clients and existing clients in their brand development will have a considerable advantage over their competitors.

The key is to find the right partner for this new breed of advertising, a partner who can provide you with a fully automated system / platform at one hand and understands your advertising needs on the other hand. And the beauty of that is not only that you will be able to pinpoint your customers and getting feedback from them…it also will extend the reach of your message beyond your imagination…and save you a considerable amount of advertising money.

Does it stop there? No, there is more to it: Thanks to the technology now available you will able to track and measure the results of your advertising in real time 24/7! Welcome to the new world of Viral Marketing!
